Why can't I comment on Facebook?

There are times when I desperately want to make a comment on a Facebook photo or comment. For some reason there are times when I just can’t comment on Facebook. Why is that? What am I doing wrong that I can’t comment on Facebook?

The world of Facebook seems to be a fairly simple concept to follow. However, from time to time we are all left wondering why all of a sudden we can’t comment or like something that has been posted by our friends on Facebook. Why is that? Apparently, there are a variety of reasons why this is happening. Sometimes, without your knowledge, a person will completely disable comments and likes on something that they post. There is an option on anything that you post on Facebook that allows you to make the post private or limit comments. If you limit comments or only allow for certain people to post comments, no one will be able to leave a comment on that particular post. This could be the reason that you are finding it difficult to leave a comment on a friends post. There is also the possibility that a person has unfriended you. By doing this, you are typically not allowed to post comments on their posts unless they mark them as public. There are a variety of other technical reasons that you may not be able to leave comments on Facebook, but check the most obvious such as a person unfriending you or the privacy of the commenting option.

“Why can't I comment on Facebook?” Well, you know Facebook is a large, complex technical place. While it seems easier enough to navigate there are some questions that are just not easy to explain. From time to time you may find that commenting on someone’s post isn’t possible.

After determining that you are still friends or apart of the group you are trying to post in you now have to narrow down all of the other possible reasons. What type of browser are you using? There are specific web browsers that do a better job of supporting the Facebook platform. Firefox and Internet Explorer seem to have the least problems with allow the functions of Facebook to work properly.

If you are attempting to use your mobile device, from time to time a problem can occur with the Facebook app on the device which can create problems when attempting to leave a comment on a Facebook post. There are also multiple privacy settings that you may want to check, which can be found in the top right corner of your screen.
