This condition is always common with me-little things usually turn my face red. It happens when I face people. In would always feel a hotness on my face and I detest it with passion. Why is this always happening to me? Do other people have this embarrassing situation, or is it particular to me? Is there any remedy to it?

Here are some of the major common causes of this problem:

1. Feelings of Embarrassments

Most times when we feel embarrassed, it is because we are anxious and afraid of what others will think of us. We fear being rejected as a result of certain negative thoughts others may have about us. Whenever we get anxious, the human body activates the flight or fight response. The stress response changes that follow involves forcing the supply of blood to all body parts that are responsible for survival such as the head, the brain, and other extremities. This forcing of blood is carried out through the contrition and dilation of the blood vessels.

When the blood supply to the head is forced, there is an opening of the blood vessels to grant entrance to more blood. This gives the skin a reddish appearance as more blood gathers near the skin surface. One active stress response anxiety triggers is looking flushed.

2. Being Excessively Warm

Warmth leads to the dilation of the blood vessels. And this in turn brings more blood near the skin surface. Whenever the skin feels warm, it gives more blood room to come close to the skin surface, thereby giving the skin a reddish color and a feeling of warmth. A very hot environment can easily lead to reddish skin coloration, flushing and blushing.

3. An Ever-Increasing Stress Levels

The same manner which an active stress reaction causes reddish skin coloration, flushing and blushing, an ever-increasing stress levels can also do the same. When the body is exposed to very high stress levels, it can bring about several body changes which are quite similar to what happens with the active stress reaction. And this changes can be made involuntarily. This is why it is easy to experience things like reddish skin coloration, flushing and blushing for no known reason.

One thing that can end your active stress reactions is calming down yourself. As the stress reaction comes to an end, the changes it brought about in the body like forcing blood for emergency preparedness will also come to an end. Why does my face go red? To me it is a sign that I'm anxious over something – the blushing and redness of the face. It often happens when we are out shopping or during conversations over dinner. Sometimes we just run into old friends and conversations ensue, this is often accompanied by blushing. I'm haven't started giving a speech yet, and it is obvious already. This often leaves me with a feeling of stupidity and embarrassment later on. Mine can be so bad that I feel it whenever we go out for some shopping or to have dinner-my heart just starts racing and warms me all up.

I'm not on any medication to help the condition, though I do take some Valerian roots occasionally to help my nerves a bit, it doesn't help much. I have an appointment with my doctor next Wednesday, and this is going to form the major topic for discussion.
